At the head of Liion Consulting is James Mackenzie. With 20 years of operational experience in Defence and Health sectors, he brings broad knowledge of business systems, change management programs and optimisation strategies.

In 2025, James completed an MBA at the University of Canterbury specialising in fleet electrification. He developed a framework for tailoring vehicle operations to drivetrain, while combining financial modeling that enables costs and benefits to be assessed over the lifetime of the vehicle assets.
